Cloud architecture and AWS infrastructure

JasperByte architects, deploys, and operates cloud infrastructure on AWS for companies in Calgary, Alberta and across Canada. We handle the parts that decide whether a system stays up under load: networking, containers, queues and event streams, caching, backups, monitoring, and the deployment pipeline that puts code into production safely.

What this involves

Cloud bills and cloud outages usually trace back to the same root cause — infrastructure that grew by accident. A instance added here, a security group widened there, no backups tested, and nobody entirely sure what would happen if the primary database went away.

We build infrastructure deliberately: defined in code, deployed the same way every time, monitored, and documented. Then we prove the recovery path works instead of assuming it does.

What you get

  • AWS architectureVPC design, compute, storage, and managed services chosen for your actual load rather than a reference diagram.
  • Containers and deploymentDocker-based builds and CI/CD pipelines that make releases boring.
  • Event streaming and cachingKafka for durable event pipelines, Redis for caching, sessions, and queues.
  • Reliability engineeringHealth checks, autoscaling, failover, and backups that get restore-tested rather than just scheduled.
  • Monitoring and alertingMetrics, logs, and traces, with alerts that reach a human when something that matters breaks.
  • Cost optimisationRight-sizing, reserved capacity, and finding the forgotten resources quietly billing you every month.

How we work

From scope to production.

  1. Assess

A review of what you are running now, what it costs, and where the genuine single points of failure are.

  2. Architect

A target design with the trade-offs written down, sized for your traffic and your budget.

  3. Migrate

Staged migration with rollback at every step. No big-bang cutovers on a Friday night.

  4. Operate

Monitoring, patching, and capacity planning, or a documented handover to your own team.

FAQ

Common questions about cloud infrastructure.

Can you reduce our AWS bill?

Usually, yes. The common wins are right-sizing over-provisioned instances, moving cold data to cheaper storage, committing to reserved capacity where usage is predictable, and deleting resources nobody remembers creating. We start with an audit so you can see the numbers before deciding whether the work is worth doing.

Do you work with Azure or Google Cloud?

Our depth is on AWS, and that is where we do our best work. We can integrate with Azure or GCP services, and we will tell you plainly if your situation would be better served by a specialist in one of those rather than pretending otherwise.

Can you keep our data in Canada?

Yes. AWS has Canadian regions in Central Canada and Calgary, and we can pin data residency to them where you have contractual or regulatory reasons to keep data in-country. We document what lives where so you can answer that question when a client or auditor asks.

What does uptime actually mean in practice?

It means multi-availability-zone deployment, health checks that remove bad instances automatically, database failover that has been tested, and alerting that reaches someone. A number in a proposal is worth nothing without those. We build the mechanisms, then tell you what they realistically deliver.

Do you offer ongoing infrastructure management?

Yes — monitoring, patching, incident response, and capacity planning on a retainer. We also do the opposite: get everything into code and documentation so your own team can run it without us.
