Software development for finance and fintech
JasperByte builds software for finance and fintech companies in Canada: payment flows, reconciliation pipelines, back-office tooling, and the audit trails that regulators and auditors expect to find. We work with Stripe, event-driven architectures on Kafka, and PostgreSQL as a system of record.
What we build for finance & fintech
- Payment and billing systemsStripe integrations covering subscriptions, refunds, disputes, webhook idempotency, and the reconciliation nobody demos.
- Data pipelinesKafka-based event streams that move transaction data reliably, with ordering and replay when something needs reprocessing.
- Back-office toolingInternal dashboards for operations, support, and finance teams, with role-based permissions and full action logging.
- Onboarding and KYC workflowsApplication flows that integrate identity and verification providers and keep an evidentiary record of each decision.
- Reporting and reconciliationAutomated statements, ledger reconciliation, and exception queues instead of a monthly spreadsheet marathon.
What makes this sector different
Financial software is judged on the paths nobody demos. What happens when a webhook arrives twice, a payment settles after a refund, or a batch job dies halfway through? We design for those explicitly — idempotency keys, immutable ledgers, and reconciliation jobs that surface discrepancies rather than hiding them.
The other constant is evidence. Auditors and regulators want to know who did what, when, and on what authority. We build append-only audit logs and permission models from the start, because retrofitting them into a live financial system is expensive and disruptive.
We are engineers, not your compliance advisors. We build to PCI-DSS-conscious patterns — tokenising card data through Stripe rather than touching it, encrypting sensitive fields, and keeping data resident in Canadian AWS regions where that matters to you — and we work alongside whoever owns compliance in your organisation.

Web App Development
Production-grade web applications built on React, Node.js, and Ruby on Rails — fast, accessible, and ready to scale from day one.
Learn moreCloud Solutions and Integration
Architect, deploy, and operate on AWS with Kafka, Redis, and Stripe wired in — resilient infrastructure that stays online under load.
Learn moreWorkflow Integration
Connect the tools you already use into reliable, observable workflows. We orchestrate systems with N8N, Make, Zapier, and custom event pipelines.
Learn moreAI Automation and Chatbots
Design and deploy AI chatbots and automated agents that handle support, qualify leads, and run workflows end to end — powered by OpenAI, Claude, and custom pipelines wired into your business.

FAQ
Finance & Fintech questions we get asked.
Do you handle PCI compliance?
We build to PCI-conscious patterns — the most important being that card data goes to Stripe and never touches your servers, which dramatically reduces your compliance scope. We are not a QSA and we do not certify you; we build systems that make your certification straightforward and work with whoever advises you on it.
Can our financial data stay in Canada?
Yes. AWS operates Canadian regions and we can pin data residency there, keeping transaction records and backups in-country. We document the data flows so you can answer residency questions from clients and auditors with specifics.
How do you handle audit requirements?
Append-only audit logging on anything that touches money or permissions, recorded with actor, timestamp, and prior state. It costs very little to build in from the start and is painful to add later, so we treat it as a default rather than a feature request.
Do you work with existing core banking or ledger systems?
Yes. Most of our finance work is integration rather than replacement — building the pipelines, reconciliation, and interfaces around a core system that is staying put. We start by mapping what the existing system can and cannot expose.
