JasperByte is a software studio in Calgary, Alberta. We are a small, highly skilled team of engineers who have spent years shipping production systems — payment flows, event pipelines, mobile apps, and the cloud infrastructure underneath them — and we bring that same bar to every engagement.
We work as an extension of your team, not a black box. You get direct access to the people writing the code, decisions explained in plain language, and software you own outright when we are done.
We do not publish a team page, and that is deliberate — we would rather be judged on the systems we ship than on headshots. What matters is that the people you meet in the first conversation are the people who build your software.

How an engagement runs
Every project starts with a short discovery conversation — usually an hour — where we work out what you are actually trying to achieve and whether we are the right team for it. If we are not, we will say so. That conversation costs nothing.
From there you get a written scope with an honest range attached, not a number pulled from the air. We build in two-week cycles, and at the end of each one there is working software on a staging URL you can use. No three-month gaps where you are trusting a status report.
When the work is done, it is genuinely yours: the repository, the infrastructure, the domains, and documentation good enough for another team to pick up. We are happy to keep working with you, but we are not interested in being difficult to leave.

We work across eleven industries, with the deepest experience in finance, logistics, healthcare, e-commerce, and SaaS. And while we are based in Calgary, we serve clients in Edmonton, Vancouver, Kelowna, and across Canada.

Where is JasperByte based?
Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We operate remote-first and work with clients across the country, including Edmonton, Vancouver, and Kelowna, but Calgary is where the team is and where we meet clients in person.
How big is the team?
Deliberately small and senior. We would rather staff fewer projects properly than spread thin across many, which is why we sometimes tell prospective clients we cannot start for a few weeks.
Do we own the software you build?
Yes, entirely. Code lives in your repository, infrastructure runs in your cloud accounts, and domains stay registered in your name. There is no proprietary layer you have to keep paying us to use.
How do you charge?
Fixed-scope projects for defined work, and monthly retainers for ongoing development or infrastructure management. We give a range after a short discovery conversation and we do not start work without an agreed scope in writing.
What if we already have developers?
That is common and it works well. We take a defined workstream and run it alongside your team rather than trying to replace them, which usually means the piece nobody internally has the bandwidth or specific experience to take on.
